The beautiful Leuser Ecosystem on the Indonesian island of Sumatra is at considerable risk. Its vast rainforests are being slashed and burned to make way for palm oil plantations. The last place on earth where orangutans, rhinos, elephants, and tigers still live together in the wild will soon vanish unless action is taken.
Extra Virgin Skin's Rainforest Safe Initiative is striving to have palm oil removed from all skincare ingredient supply chains. We've developed Linea Bianca as the first luxury palm free skincare collection, and our working hard to re-develop our other collections to the same standard.
We're doing this because we feel the only way to save irreplaceable habitats like the Leuser Ecosystem is to stop consuming palm oil. The ROSPO, a certification board for sustainable palm oil, backed by large multi nations like L'Oréal, has proven itself corrupt to the point where it can no longer guarantee a traceable source of Rainforest Safe palm oil.
Hopefully, other brands will follow our lead, and a groundswell of public awareness will demand that there are more palm-free products in the marketplace.
